in Mentoring?

You can change someone’s life AND impact our community at the same time. There are youth aging out of foster care without any adult support who need someone they can trust to learn from. Why not help them take steps toward freedom and independence by using skills you already have! Read below to learn about mentoring A Youth in our community:

The “Open Table” Model of Mentorship

The Open Table - mentor an Aged-out Youth

Foster youth who turn 18 years old while still in the system are considered “aged-out.” Without support from 5 - 7 caring adults, a very high percentage of these youth quickly become homeless, trafficked, or incarcerated. However, with support and guidance, these youth can beat those odds and move toward a future filled with possibilities. The Open Table model connects local professionals with an aged-out youth. The Open Table mentors meet with the youth over the course of one year to guide them towards positive change. If you would like more information about mentoring an aged-out youth through The Open Table model, fill out the form below to attend a 30-minute informational webinar.

Mentoring Mommas

Pairing Seasoned Mommas with New Moms to Provide Community & Support

For many young women who have aged out of foster care, motherhood is filled with both incredible joy and unique challenges. Without the support of parents, extended family, or trusted role models, everyday questions and difficult moments can feel overwhelming. That's where Mentoring Mommas comes in.

Mentoring Mommas is a community of experienced mothers who are willing to walk alongside young moms with encouragement, practical wisdom, and genuine friendship. This isn't about having all the answers or being a perfect parent. It's about showing up, listening well, sharing life experiences, and reminding a young mom that she doesn't have to do motherhood alone.

By investing just a little of your time, you can help build confidence, celebrate milestones, offer a listening ear, and create the kind of consistent, caring relationship that changes lives. Your presence can become the support system many of these young families have never experienced.

At James Storehouse, we believe that healing happens in community and that every generation has something valuable to give the next. If you have a heart for encouraging others and a desire to help strengthen young families, we'd love to invite you to become a Mentoring Momma. Together, we can help ensure that every young mother is seen, supported, and surrounded by hope as she builds a brighter future for herself and her children.
